You know… when you write stories that are so true to your soul, and you write characters that really mean something… by creating them from people in your life, you begin to be their friends. I have grown to love each of my characters, and the more depth I give them, whether that is through cross connections, or creating beautiful book bundles, I wish I could step into their story and meet them.
My hope for you, as you journey through the stories of my friends, is that you will come to love them as much as I do. Every character has something to teach you, and I pray that as you to read these books you will see what you need, feel what you need, and heal where you need.
Welcome to The Apothecary Press Library, by Davilyn Atwood

What is The Apothecary Press?
The Apothecary Press is the home of my gentle healing fiction, herbal education, preparedness philosophy, and reflexology-based works. It is a literary and practical ecosystem centered on steady, thoughtful living.
Do your novels need to be read in order?
Not necessarily. Each book in The Apothecary’s Atlas and Bitter Sweet Series stands alone, but subtle crossovers and shared threads reward readers who follow the larger journey.
(You can explore reading order in the Atlas Reading Guide.)
What is The Apothecary’s Atlas series?
It is a global fiction series built around one woman, one herb, and one healing journey at a time, with interconnected stories that quietly cross borders.
What is the Bitter Sweet Series about?
Bitter Sweet follows a community rebuilding life through herbal wisdom, shared work, and intentional structure. It explores resilience, leadership, and belonging in uncertain times.
Are the herbal details in your books accurate?
Yes. I have studied herbal medicine for over 30 years, and the plant knowledge woven into my fiction and nonfiction reflects real-world tradition, physiology, and safety awareness. That said, my books are educational and narrative, not medical advice.
What are your Preparedness Works?
My preparedness books focus on calm, practical readiness — food storage, skill-building, and steady planning without panic. They are designed to help families build resilience slowly and sustainably.
Where should I start?
If you love:
- Global herbal fiction → Start with The Apothecary’s Atlas
- Community-centered resilience → Begin with Bitter Sweet
- Quiet restorative fiction → Try A Pocket of Chamomile
- Practical readiness → Explore the 52-Week Preparedness Planner
